My wife and I would like to pay down the balance on our only credit card and we do not want to open another card and play the transfer game. Our balance is high for the usual reasons, medical bills, we just moved into a new home recently, unexpected auto repairs, etc. We both have stable jobs, she is a school teacher and I work for a large facility owned by the county. We own both of our autos and have no payments. We recently moved into a new home (our first and well within our means) in order to build equity, quit paying rent, and take advantage of the tax benefits, especially since we have no children and need the deduction. We have some small investments and money-market accounts that we would much prefer not to touch at this time and allow them to grow independently of our bills. Using these funds from Prosper will allow us to pay down our existing credit card, allow us an easy and flexible payment amount that won't stretch our budget, and allow is to develop a long-term stable budget that will keep us ahead of our finances.
