I am in a bit of a predictament. I allow my roommate to use my car to drive herself to and from her two jobs, but due to a common defect in the engine of my 1999 Chevy Malibu, the head gasket has blown. I took it to a GM dealership and they finished it up two days ago, giving me a final price of $1,998.65. Ever since I took it in, I have been calling in money from any savings accounts or stock plans that I had and have managed to come up with the majority of the funds necessary, but I am just a few hundred dollars shy. I have $1326 coming to me from a stock purchase plan provided by my employer, but I am told that it will be another two to four weeks before our payroll department can process it and direct deposit it into my account. Given the amount that I will have within the month thanks to that stock plan, I am not worried about being able to repay a loan, although my work schedule is too busy to permit me to drive my roommate to her two separate jobs. I simply cannot wait another month to get the car back. You might be wondering why I don't just force my roommate to take care of this. Simply put, she does not make as much money as I do and I am too good of a friend to put it all on her.
