Hello, First, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this.I desparately need dental work done. For the past 3 days, I've been living off tylenol #3 and chicken soup broth. It's a sob story, I understand, but it's the truth. I don't have any health or dental insurance - I'm self-employed. The cost for the root canal, after I've gotten the infection gone where the dentist will do the work is approximately 900. I also have several cavaties that I need filled in the front lower teeth. I would prefer to get them all done at once. The approximate cost for all of this work is right around 1400 - 1500. We have a balance on two of my longest TL credit cards, both are Cap1. However, the interest rates are at 18.9 and 20.9 - and my husband and I decided that we have had enough and want to get these paid off and completely closed down - even though they have years of Tradelines. The balances on these are 229 (18.9) and 1228.01 (20.9). I've already cut the new card up for the 229 balance one when I received it in March; so there's no way for me to use this card again. With this loan, and the money that I can pull from our budget & small savings account, I can doubly make sure that my teeth are taken care of and these credit cards are gone from our lives. Any extra $$'s would automatically go back into paying off this prosper loan. Financially, our lower credit rating is simply a matter of bad luck and poor planning. We purchased our home in July 2002 after moving out here to AZ from Florida. In October 2002, I was laid off from my job as a telecommuter - but was rehired back 5 weeks later - BUT, with a 10K per year pay cut. Then, at the same time I was getting hired back in Dec. 02, my husband ended up getting laid off when his company went out of business. He was out of work for over 6 months. The decision - while it may not have been the best, we felt, at the time it was the only way we could at least attempt to keep our heads floating (sometimes swallowing some of that water) - was to use our credit cards to pay bills. Our mortgage - which will show 90-60-30 days late until July 2005, was 1 week away from foreclosure in October 03. Finally in Jan. 04, Wells Fargo put us on a repayment plan of 1 1/2 mortgage payments monthly for 18 months. We completed that in July 05 and are now on an accelerated repayment plan - with an additional $50/month to pay our mortgage off even sooner. In the meantime, in July 2004, I ended up getting a judgment against me from Citibank, which I understand and didn't fight, because I DID own the money. This judgment was for 268.75/ month for 2 years, I have paid 300/month and this Friday 4/29 it will be paid off - 3 months early. We have completely turned around from where we were only 2 1/2 years ago. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, just as we ARE getting back on track and on our feet - something happens - like this stupid tooth. I know we will have no problem paying back this loan - the $$ spent paying those 2 cap one cards will pay this off. I plan to have 75/ week drafted toward this prosper loan, paying it off in the next year. We've allowed ourselves to be managed by our credit - instead of taking control of our credit and managing it. If anyone reviewing this has any questions, please don't hesitate to send me a private message, and I'll answer your concerns, suggestions, questions as completely as I know. Thank you for reading and understanding! |
