I am looking to get a loan for my business. My business name is Road Runner Express Transport, Inc. It is a trucking company and we haul dry and refridgerated freight coast to coast. I have been in business for a few months now and and looking to expand more. I already bought 2 semi trucks. The first one was a Freightliner and the most recent one was a Volvo and I put over $40,000 of my own cash into this business for down payments, insurance, and miscellaneous. We are expanding fast and very profitable but I was thinking that this would be a great way to expand faster. I wanted to get this truck ASAP because the season is starting up and I want to be ready and have a truck on the road b4 that happens. I just got a new office in chicago with my partner. I am looking for a loan so I can purchase another Volvo truck. I have been very happy with the one I bought 2 weeks ago and the Volvo's has the best fuel mileage out of any other brand of truck which saves me tons of money. This loan will help me with the downpayment and help me get a new truck a couple of months sooner which will make me an extra $10,000 + in the process. The Money I can make on this truck is much greater than the finance charges on this loan so I thought it would be a great idea to get this cause it just makes sense. ROI = Return on investment is high ;)

Thanks and email any questions you may have.

This loan has gone delinquent. Borrower has not responded to my e-mails. Disappointing. Anybody have any info on this loan?

it is loan # 7239, borrower is "Greekx80"

I have noticed that greek has changed his icon three times since he decided not to pay his loan. First is was a picture of Guy, then a puppy dog, and now a sunflower. I really wish he would log in and pay his account. I have emailed, no response. Thinking I may have to write off my loss.

This morning he is an apple. Clearly he is accessing the website, often enough to change his logo.
Thu, March 22, 2007
Disco-ball, no payment, now 1 month late.
Fri, March 23, 2007
Back to a flower. Looked up his lender stats and he is a big ZERO on having any assets on Prosper. http://www.lendingstats.com/memberProfile?lenderId=Greekx80

Missing the first payment is usually the worst indicator after 30 days of Prosper trying to call you daily. Any idea of how long Prosper will let the debt collector try and collect before they sell it? My guess is 90 days at the earliest.

Puppy dog today.

Don't find anything on the web for Road Runner Express, Inc. No phone number, nothing...

What bothers me most about this loan is that I was concerned before I bid, but bid anyway, didn't think. I read his previous listings, he talked about a vending business. I sent him an email before bidding and asked if he ever funded that venture, and how it was going. I also wanted to know more about how the trucking and vending business would work together. I never heard back, but had put a lot of new money in my account so I bid anyway. My own fault I guess for getting impatient. He is now the planet earth. I think the changing of icons bothers me more, since I know he accesses the site.

How does prosper handle lowering the value of this loan. I logged in today to check and see how things were going, and I noticed my account value (account:lending screen) looked lower than it had previously. Does prosper reduce our account value by the value of this loan once it goes late? I have three loans in pay-off right now, so it is tough for me to tell where the disconnect is. Anyone experience the same thing?
Wed, April 4, 2007
They haven't lowered the value of this loan for me. This is the only late loan I have and none of mine are in payoff.
Wed, April 4, 2007
Im in on htis stinker also, and for that reason I no longer bid on Trucking startups or ongoing operations. Just found this one:
https://www.prosper.com/lend/listing.aspx?listingID=117686

Not touching it.

Clarified the reduced account value. Apparently it yesterday accoung values were not correctly reflecting payments in transit, it was a bug with the new roll out, which they corrected today, and was not related to the current status of this horrible horrible loan.
Mon, April 9, 2007
The late fees will increase your account value.
Wed, April 11, 2007
Somehow I don't think there will be late fees. If you borrow $20k (wow), and can't come up with the FIRST payment of $703.14, my guess is you've taken the money and run. I would guess one of two things. 1.) Either this guy had some major issue come up and he is on his way to bankruptcy, which I doubt given his B rating, and relatively strong credit(No DLQ or public records) or 2.) This may be pure ID theft and fraud, which I think is more likely. Does anyone know what happens in the case of ID theft?

He is a Maple Leaf today - I'm wondering if Prosper generates random icons.

I'm with dmburgess that this one looks like ID theft. Prosper must be losing a mint on these. I had Prosper buy back another loan that turned out to be ID theft (loan of only $2,550, guess the thief thought stealing a smaller amount was easier).

Riptide -
Sounds like ID Theft would be the best option if Prosper makes us whole on initial investment. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take Prosper to pay you back? Was it after the loan went 90 days DLQ?
Thu, April 26, 2007
Has Prosper paid money back to anyone here when there was a case of an id theft? I lent money to this guy too, and since I am a newbie at lending, this experience is making me very very wary...
Fri, May 4, 2007
Sounds like Riptide may have had some experience with that. I am not sure, but it sounds like they may pay back just the face value of your loan. So you'd lose all of the accrued interest. I lent $55 on this loan, and I think it now shows my loan value at $57.+ So, hopefully prosper will just pay me back the $55 and I will only lose the accrued interest. Prosper is a game of large numbers though. I have over 150 loans. If this one goes bad it drops from 9.50% to about 6.25% since inception. If I had less loans, it would obvioiusly be much more painful.

Here is the details on a loan that Prosper repurchased after they figured out it was fraud.
https://www.prosper.com/secure/account/lender/lender_loan_details.aspx?id=5556
Loan started 12/18/2006 and was repurchased 4/2/2007.

In this loan's case:
Loan started 2/8/2007 and if it turns out to be fraud I'd guess we would see it bought back in mid-May.

Let's see what happens...

I only have 5 loans out there, so if this loan goes bad, I am in deep negative territory. I should have paid more attention to his past listings, and how his # of credit lines jumped from one to another.... Ah well :(

Still praying for id theft! Have since changed my screens to watch for # of recent inquiries.

I looked up "his" company : Road Runner Express Transport, Inc, and based on public records, it looks like it is owned by Tomas Georgakopoulos - who could be our favorite Greek!!
And apparently he bought a house in Sept - Oct 2006 based on records of Chicago Tribune. And that also gives the postal address of the house. I would think it should be easy enough to figure out if it is an id theft or not (for Prosper, i.e. - we of course are not allowed to contact the borrower)

Sorry about my double postings.... dont know why that is happening :(

I'll look into the double posting issue. It's probably a technical thing that has something to do with refreshing the page causing a repost.

If this is ID theft, the crook could have gotten the stooge's picture and user name off of myspace. According to his myspace profile, updated recently, he can't afford a bike, so how did he buy a house as mentioned by hobbes100? I wish I knew what was up. I wonder if the collection agency tries to locate the real person instead of trusting what is in the profile.

Someone should contact him via MySpace, since it appears he logged into that today. Have to agree, not a good sign. The picture is 100% the same as the original listing. My friend just had prosper buy back one of his loans. Took several months, and the prosper lenders did a lot of the leg work. Apparently one of the lenders went so far as to track down some on-going police investigation regarding that person's ID, and sent that information onto prosper, and it still took a long time. As of this month I have written this loan down to 10% of the current loan value, and it's killing my ROI estimate by about 2%.
Mon, July 9, 2007
we are now at 4+ months late. Prosper still hasn't written down the loan value, which is somewhat funny to me.
Wed, July 18, 2007
I sent Prosper Credit Dept an email with link to this (above) information. Certainly hope they determine this one to be I.D. Theft (eligible for refund of the $500 I put into this loan).

I did the same thing today and would encourage others to do the same. I had a friend whose loan got repurchased, but it apparently took a lot of work on the part of the lenders, including numerous emails to customer support. I don't know about you, but even for $50, I am willing to do a little bit of work!!!!

Just testing.. please ignore.

Just received the following form response from prosper:

We have been investigating this case for some time. We know how frustrating things like this can be. It does not seem to be a case of ID theft. We will continue the investigation on this account.
