My past credit woes are largely the result of an automobile accident that happened in January '03.  I spent 3 weeks in the hospital, and more than 3 months in physical therapy.  I did not have disability coverage thru my employer, and lost alot of income due to not being able to work.  I fell behind on everything.  In the end, however, I got back on my feet (literally-I had suffered broken legs) and gained a new appreciation for family and friends. It was a long, difficult journey, but I managed to regain financial stability.

As you can see, all of my credit obligations are in good standing.  My last delinquency was resolved in June 2005, when I brought my student loans current.

So, why am I here looking for a loan?  Last year, I ended up in a situation where I needed a car & had no option other than subprime financing.  While I made a good deal on a used vehicle (I think so, at least) I did not do so well in terms of financing.  I'm paying more than 25% APR and after 6 payments the principal has hardly changed.  I would like to refinance and get out from under that horrible interest rate. I have been approved for a loan thru my credit union, but they will only loan 70% LTV and I presently owe more than that.  When I found Propser.com, I thought this might be the answer to my dilemma.

I am not looking to take on new debt.  Rather, I'd like to pay off what I owe at better terms.  In the end, the Prosper.com plus credit union loan payments combined will be roughly the same as what I am paying now as for a car payment.  I would prefer to pay a reasonable interest rate to an individual or group of individuals who would be willing to help me out, than to continue paying an outrageous interest rate for another 4+ years.

Thanks for your time, and for considering my request.
