Why I need this loan
I?ve been promoted and my job duties have expanded. I am now expected to travel at least once a month, using a rental car. The only problem is that my driver?s license is suspended due to old unpaid traffic tickets!

  • With the addition of court fees and interest, these citations total $3,751.41. The oldest ticket is from 2004, and the newest is from February 2005. None of the citations are a result of DUI. Two are from speeding, one is the result of an accident, and the remaining two are the result of driving with a suspended license (commuting to work, I might add).
  • The unpaid accounts for these citations have been forwarded to a collection agency, and currently show on my credit reports. The nearly $4,000-worth of collections is why my credit grade shows as a D. My credit history shows ELEVEN accounts in good standing...I'm not a deadbeat! I had a very financially tumultuous couple of years due to poor tech job market in the Portland area, maternity leave and my husband being laid off (twice!). That's no excuse for stupid driving, but rent, utilities and credit card/car payments were more important to me than paying for the tickets.

An Important Note About My Income and Income/Debt Ratio

When I signed up for Prosper a few months ago, my income was $46,800 per year. Since then, my income has increased to $55,000/yr. There was no option to update my income when initiating this new listing, so PLEASE take into account that I make almost $10,000 per year MORE than my profile gives me credit for (no pun intended). Also, included in my debts is a car loan that my husband is a part of, yet I did not think to include his income into my profile. My debt/income ratio is NOT 21%. If you have questions, please feel free to message me!

Here is a breakdown of my personal monthly income and expenses. Anyone can see that I have the ability to pay back this loan without much of a dent in my lifestyle. Please note that my husband covers the rent and daycare expenses while I cover the utilities, car expenses and food/household goods.

Net monthly income - $3,514
Total monthly expenses - $2,387
Monthly ammount available after expenses - $1,127

Breakdown of expenses:
Car Payment - $670
Car insurance - $177
Credit cards - $250
Food - $700
Gasoline - $140
Utilities - $350
Household (toiletries, pet food, etc) - $100

In Conclusion
So, why am I asking Prosper members for a loan when I have good income and credit accounts in good standing? I don't have this kind of available credit on any of my credit cards, and I need to pay all of the tickets off AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Even if I used most of my extra income each month to pay them off, it would take at least 4 months. The need for me to travel with a company rental car will arise in a month!
