*ABOUT ME* I have been running a growing vintage clothing business on eBay for 2 years. I specialize in items from the 60s-80s, focusing on hip street-wear and romantic bohemian styles. I have 100% positive feedback and my customers are pleased with the friendly service and lightning fast shipping. I have had several items on eBay's "Pulse", which is a listing of the top 10 watched items for sale within a category. I have a unique style and presentation that stands apart from other sellers on eBay. Fashion trends show that vintage clothing has become very popular recently. I enjoy overseeing all aspects of my business including selecting inventory, modeling the clothing, photography, marketing, graphic design, packaging, shipping, and keeping detailed records. I feel that this business has been a great way to merge many of my talents into one endeavor. I have always been a lover of vintage clothing and love finding unique items to wear and to sell, so this kind of work is fun for me. *REASON FOR LOAN REQUEST* I am seeking funds in order to build my inventory. As a result of my eBay experience and knowledge of current fashion trends, I am fully confident in my ability to purchase inventory items that will give a return of at least %200 of my investment (most likely much more). I am just in need of a jump start from which I am positive I will prosper. *CREDIT EXPLANATION* I am aware that I have less than perfect credit and have a few outstanding debts. However, I am NOT requesting a loan in order to pay these off. Instead, I prefer to have the loan support my business, so I can have the personal pride of paying off my debts by my OWN hard work. I am not seeking for a quick fix for my problems; I would prefer to fix them myself through positive means, by building a life I am proud of and taking responsibility for myself. Starting up a new business is considerably risky and usually little profit is made at first. Lots of time and money are spent in setting up shop and getting the word out to potential customers, and getting over the learning curve. These were risks I was willing to take in order to take control of my life and become my own boss. Money was spent on things I didn't quite understand at the time (i.e. marketing, low demand/low value inventory). I was working in restaurants before I started to do this, and that kind of work was very stressful for me and unsatisfying, and I wanted to make a change. I feel that now I have a very good grasp of the eBay vintage clothing market through a lot of hard work, research, and trial and error. I was living in Los Angeles when I started the business, where expenses and inventory costs can be very high. I recently moved to Portland, OR, where my expenses are much less. I now pay 1/3 of the rent I paid in LA, and inventory can be procured at a much lower cost. I no longer own a car, which was costing me a lot of money in LA. *EXPENSES* Rent: $333 Utilities: $40 Car: NONE Mortgage: NONE *ABILITY TO PAY BACK LOAN* I fully intend to pay any loan I procure from Prosper in a timely manner, and will have the monthly payments automatically deducted from my bank account. This is a fabulous opportunity to build up my credit. I am absolutely confident in my ability to make a high profit from a loan. Also, belonging to a Prosper group will help motivate me to be a good team member who has interest in keeping up the high reputation of the group. My debt-to-income ratio is very low, and I have very few bills and expenses. As stated above, my expenses in Portland are MUCH less than they were in Los Angeles. At this time in my life I have a desire to BE an adult, therefore I must ACT like an adult and take responsibility for myself.
