Hi my name is Tim.  Pictured are me, my son Giordan (2yrs), wife Gigi, and daughter Hunter (7yrs).  This is a re-list?my first listing funded 64%, and I learned a lot about what my listing was lacking to make it to 100%?so here is my second attempt with more information.

About Me:

I am a military veteran?I served 8 yrs in the U.S. Marines.  I am employed full-time as a cost accounting manager with a $70,000 annual income, plus bonus and annual increases.  I am also a law student studying 20 hours a week in my second year scheduled to graduate in 2009.  I also have a seasonal tax preparation business that I have been building since 2003, which is expected to earn $35,000 this year (not included in DTI or Budget).

Why I?m Asking For a Loan:

In the recent past I made some home improvements and funded my business with my credit cards using almost my maximum available credit.  This took nearly 100 points off my credit score, and I should not have done things that way, but I learned a valuable lesson.  Now, I am asking for a loan to consolidate credit cards, and fund my business for the next 4 months with working capital and reserves.    In addition, by consolidating my credit cards and paying off high balances, I should be able to increase my credit score, enabling me to refinance my house and consolidate debt that is not taken care of in this loan, pay off this loan, and if anything is left in equity further capitalize my business.

Use of Funds From This Loan:

$250 prosper lending fee
$14,750 to consolidate credit card debt
$5,000 for business working capital
$5,000 for business reserves

My Budget:

Monthly Gross: $5,833.33

Monthly Net: $4,837.32

Monthly Expenses (before prosper loan):

Mortgage: $1,304
Car Loan: $385
Credit Cards: $521
Honda Loan: $69
Furniture Loan: $112
Food: $200
Insurance: $129
Gas: $150
Phone/Cable: $71.50
Utilities: $105
Tuition Payments: $100
Total: $3,146.50

Available: $1,690.82

Monthly Expenses (after prosper loan):

Mortgage: $1,304
Prosper Loan: $1,041
Car Loan: $385
Credit Cards: $35
Honda Loan: $69
Furniture Loan: $112
Food: $200
Insurance: $129
Gas: $150
Phone/Cable: $71.50
Utilities: $105
Tuition Payments: $100
Total: $3,701.50

Remaining Available: $1,135.82

Conclusion:

As you can see I am a good credit risk despite my credit score as it is now.  I hope you can help me reach my goals with this loan.  If you have other questions visit my profile where I have uploaded my pay stub, and my bank balance.  Thank you and God Bless!

Discussion For This Listing
Fri, July 13, 2007
<15 days late - let's see what happens on this one
Fri, July 13, 2007
I am hoping for the best....but expecting the worst.

My personal theory: refinancing like he said he would in 6 months. So is he delayed because of costs involved with that or did he already refinance and is now prepared to blow off the loan completely.
Fri, July 27, 2007
Looks like he's still late. Not getting a good feeling about this.
Fri, July 27, 2007
I guess I was a little naive to think I had picked out a good "E" listing
Fri, July 27, 2007
Maybe someone could send him a link to this discussion so he has a chance to explain, although he could do that on prosper in the forums, this discussion seems to be limited more to just his lenders and not the whole world.

Having been in tough financial situations myself, I am not ready to jump on the "deadbeat" bandwagon just yet. Something could have come up, and that's fine with me as long as he gets back on track at some point. If he's truly out to take us for the money, he won't make ANY kind of payment or contact. But a partial payment of any kind is still a show of good faith.

If 3 months goes by and no partial or no contact, then it's probably over.

I agree with you. I still have a little hope but everyday that passes I lose a little more. I like to lend to lower credit ratings if I think I am going to help them out...but only if they pay me back.
Fri, July 27, 2007
I just sent a message to legacy2009 inviting him to join us here as an opportunity to hear his side of the story. Communication is the key, I hope he sees that...
Fri, July 27, 2007
I thank you for that. I know we aren't suppose to hound borrower for payments but this is different. I hope legacy sheds some light on the subject.

He owes about ~$2000. I really thought I was helping someone out who was willing to pay me back. I guess I shouldn't trust every "good" candidate

I think this guy went into foreclosure. If you blow up the pay stub and wamu statement you can see the same name and information. If you have good imaging program you probably could get the guys address, but don't do that. I was hoping for this guy to make it a little further on payments, but what can we expect on a low credit score.

At least we will get 10-20% back when it defaults.

I'm praying someone will make a community payment :(

For anyone who didn't get the email:

Prosper is committed to improving our collections on delinquent loans. To do this, we plan to test collection alternatives to provide lenders with better collections rates across all loan categories.

As a result, we have engaged a new collection agency and we are running a limited test of loans through this agency. One or more loans you own have been selected to be included in this test. To execute the test, we had to move the selected loans from your designated collection agency to the new test agency. We believe this test will ultimately yield better recoveries and we would appreciate your cooperation. The new agency will take steps at least as forceful as your original collection agency. There is no additional cost to lenders whose loans are included in the test.

Tests of this nature are not specifically mentioned in the Lender Registration Agreement, but we hope you will afford us the flexibility and opportunity to innovate in the collection area, to conduct a test that we believe will result in better collection results. If you object to your loan being included in the collection improvement test, please let us know by Tuesday, November 20, 2007, by sending an email to support@prosper.com. We will remove the loan from the test if there are serious objections, and return it to the original collection agency for normal collection.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Prosper

Interesting how this notice came to us 2 or 3 weeks after they "took the liberty" of switching the collection agency on us without asking. Seems like they should have at least asked us first...doesn't really help my confidence in Prosper at this point.
Fri, November 16, 2007
Since the previous agency didn't result in anything (no partial payments, community payments, nor delayed payments), I'm ok with them trying something else.
Fri, November 16, 2007
I agree, however what bothers me is that if they feel free to take liberties with that, what else will they just slide by us?
Fri, November 16, 2007
There was a general heads up announced here http://forums.prosper.com/index.php?showtopic=31159 in October.
Fri, November 16, 2007
I don't have a lot of time to read the forums there. That's why I depend on them to send me the change notices via email.
Sat, November 17, 2007
If this new mystery collections agency actually collects some $ then I'm all for it.

If Prosper took a vote each time they wanted to improve the operation we would be stuck in quicksand. We pay them to manage the process. They inform us of the changes they are making to improve the collection of loans; testing a collection agaency is something I ( we ) might not have thought of. Let's focus on using the process, and measure Proper's performance by results, not reacting to each effort to improve. In the end, we vote with our dollars; there will be other P2P alternatives that we can use if we are not happy with Prospers results.
