My life right now is a combination of wonderful news and great difficulty. The good news is that I have a loving, supportive fiance.  The difficult part is that I want to go to college, and my parents have refused to cosign a loan with me for the purpose.

They're not bad people, and they love me.  They just don't think I need to go to college (their reasoning why is because ?we get by without college educations, so why can?t you??).  I've lived on my own for two years now, with a job that lets me "get by" and I've decided that is not how I want to spend my life.  My fiance is tremendously supportive of my goals, and I love him for that.  But I need to get a loan for the tuition to get started.  My parents have challenged me to do the first semester on my own, to prove that I mean it.  After that, they'll help me out with the future years.

One thing that I got from my parents is an understanding that you have to work for what you want.  And that's exactly what I intend to do.  I have decided that I want to become a nurse.  It will take a lot for me to get there, but I know I can do it--and it will bring me a fulfilling career that would give meaning to my life as well as providing a good, dependable income.  Thanks to my fiance, I have a place to live and very few expenses to worry about while I'm in school.  They can be summarized as follows:

  • cell phone:   $65
  • car insurance:  $95
  • gas for car:   $40
  • clothes and incidentals: $200

For a total of about $400 per month (I know that's low, but that's because my fiance is such a super guy.  Did I mention I love him?).  When I go back to school I plan to work part time, 20 hours a week.  My boss has already told me I can set my hours any way I want (another great guy...) so that will bring in over $1000 per month, leaving about $600 for savings and for covering this loan.  Even though this gives me a high DTI ratio (which explains my HR rating), I still have the loan payment covered several times over.

Believe me, if I don't get this loan, I'll find a way to make this first year in school happen. It just might take longer, and I don't want to wait.  Classes start January 16th, and so help me I?m going to be there!  I?ve made that commitment to myself and time's a wastin' so help me out, please!  I promise I won't let you down.
