I'm getting married next spring, and we need to cover some of the expenses early. I could sell some of my stock options to cover this, but I'm intrigued by prosper and I'd rather investigate the borrowing side of prosper.com with a small loan instead. Allow me to tell you a little bit about my credit/financial history: I'm employed with a major computer networking vendor, my annual salary is $112,000 a year. For the past 5 years my average annual bonus (in addition to the 112k) has been $23,000. I have approximately $200,000 in a 401(k) and approximately $150,000 in vested but unexercised company stock options. My fiancee (we're joint in all things financial) also earns approximately $75,000 per year. She is 100% debt free (her car loan is in my name) but her income is NOT included in my computed debt-to-income ratio, so it's really more like 2%. Paying back a $2500 loan is NOT an issue, I'm more interested in the prosper.com experience and I'm willing to pay a little bit of interest to see how it works. I've never carried a credit card balance in my life. I consider credit cards 'bad' debt. I should probably be a AA risk, but experian doesn't work that way: I'm a 'B' because I have two outstanding car loans which brings me out of "zero-debt" status: Loan 1 is an '04 Acura TL, and has 10,000 remaining at 2.9%. Loan 2 is my fiancee's '05 Subaru Outback, and has $8000 remaining at 1.9%. We took these loans out only because at the rates we qualify for the interest doesn't even cover inflation, and we can make better than 3% in a basic savings account. I'm also a verified homeowner with a 15yr fixed mortgage at 4.75% (refinanced in min-2003). My income level combined I can verify all of this information via sanitized statements/paystubs if desired. I look forward to your bids, this is an excellent opportunity to diversify your loan portfolio with a zero-risk loan. (I'm not about to waste 15 years of smart financial management by not paying back a $2500 internet loan!) |
