I've had a professional, salaried office job in my profession, construction estimating, since 1999. I started out a at a small company, moved to a medium size one, and now work at the largest of its kind inthe marketplace.
I racked up some some tidy credit card bills while putting myself through college. Needless to say, those were some tight financial years, along with the ones immediately following graduation. Since then, I've made small, but steady progress on paying those off, and have stayed away from the plastic ever since. I've also managed to buy a house for me and my family. I also contribute to my 401k, because I've learned that if you wait until you have the extra money, that day will probably never come.
