I found out about Prosper while reading a Wall Street Journal article about charity giving.  That is what I usually am doing but now have decided it is time to ask for help.  I am the single mother of a remarkable "tween" girl - she is a wonderful person and I am honored to be her Mom.  Though her father and I have shared custody, I have to pay him child support as he has not been able to hold down a job for long.  He also recently had a massive stroke.  Unfortunately, he has struggled for quite some time and we never found our financial footing as a couple.  I am still having to deal with much of the financial damage that came from my marriage.

My desire is to ultimately buy a home - I would love to provide my daughter with that sense of stability, particularly because her world with her father is so precarious.  I also would love to have a garden - I grew up growing my own tomatoes and miss the taste :0)  So, I am asking for a loan to consolidate some debt and begin my financial plan.  I am a hard and dedicated worker finding herself with some need.

My favorite quote - "Greatness is not found in possessions, power, position, or prestige.  It is discovered in goodness, humility, service, and character.".  I have a kindness fund that I use to teach my daughter the meaning of this quote.  Each month she picks a charity to donate to - we even adopted a manatee one month!  I want to develop her character...but I also need to provide for her and myself with the day to day.
