My wife and I are in the final stretch of a very exciting renovation project. We are converting a 999sqft bungalow that got very little attention between 1960 and 1996 into an elegant, but historically sensitive (no McMansions here!) home for the next 10 years of our lives together. While we are still very happy with the project and the fact that we are moving back by May, we are becoming very familiar with the idea of cost overruns and the fact that contractor budgets are an estimate and not a science! We need these funds to simply tide us over until the construction loan converts to a standard mortgage as construction lending rates are very steep! We are excited about Prosper.Com as an alternative to traditional banks. I am a Technology Executive employed by a very profitable privately held firm and my wife is also a working professional.
