I'm a recently hired Assistant Professor as verified by my membership in the Professors and University Graduates group. I have a doctorate degree in Ecology and Zoology. I have also lived and worked as a professional biologist in Alabama for two years before moving to California. I'm requesting a loan to transfer the balance of a student loan ($10,000) from a Canadian lender to the US. Changes in the US-Canada dollar have actually been increasing my loan relative to my US income over the last several years and in the end have exceeded normal interest rates. Therefore, I wish to transfer to a US lender where the rate will be fixed. This is my first permanent job as a member of a university faculty. Prior to this, as a student my salary was low and post graduate employment was usually temporary, which has made paying off loans difficult. My credit history in the US is recent and therefore my rating is low. Transferring this loan to the US will also help me build my credit score. My current position pays well, and it is my goal to rapidly pay off all my debts as soon as possible and build my credit before applying for a mortgage.
There is a public record on my report which was an unfortunate accident on my part that lead to a Tax Lien for approximately $1200 before I could deal with it while I was out of the country on research. I paid this Lien off immediately, but the record remains much to my disappointment. I still remain diligent about paying my debts. |
