Purpose of loan:
This is the 2nd time I've posted this request.   Since the last time I've been able to pay off $2,000 in high interest debt.  Because of the 1 missed mortgage payment my other credit card companies (2) have hiked my rates to 29%.   The finance charges are killing me.  I just want to pay them off, cut up the cards and move on.

This loan will be used to pay off my outstanding bills and give us some financial cushion.   I was laid off from my company in December 2007 after the startup venture I was employed by closed down.  Since then we've exhausted our savings and have used our home equity to pay our daughter's college expenses and other living expenses.  I've been able to retire some of my bills and debts by being drastically reducing our lifestyle.  I'd like to retire this remaining amount to be at the point where we can rebuild and move on.

For others who have been in this situation in a bad economy, you know what stress and strain this puts on your marriage and your family.  I will accept criticism for not being more prudent and doing more due diligence in my selection of companies.  I will also accept criticism for not being more prudent with my finances and making sure that I could weather any storm.   I appeal to those who've been in my shoes and been successful in getting out of it to recognize that I too want to be in your shoes.  I want to to be at the point where I can be on the lending end of this equation and not on the borrowing end.

I thank you for your attention.

My financial situation:
I am a good candidate for this loan because I pay my bills on time.   I've missed 1 mortgage payment in over 20 years because of the layoff, and although I notified my lender and asked to work it out, they still reported it as a missed payment.  I am now currently employed at a very stable company and have the income to re-pay my debts.
