Purpose of loan: My first credit card was opened in October 2006 when my father advised me to open a card in my name to begin establishing good credit - how ironic. I was to use it for books and incidentals, and he would receive and pay the bill until I graduated. I lost him in my junior year to cancer, and since then, my credit score has been well below average. Although I had a part time job, it wasn't enough to make the minimum monthly payment on my card while still trying to attend school full time. I had to give up full time attendance my senior year, because I recognized the financial hole I was creating. Unfortunately, the damage had been done and I have been trying to "catch up" ever since. My score is definitely not indicative of the upstanding person that I am. However, good credit is the gateway to many opportunities, bad credit is the lengthy sentence to limited growth. I have struggled for so long, and have hit many roadbumps, but have finally reached a point where I can be able to clear the last hurdles to financial freedom. I read about Prosper and thought that I should at least give it a shot. I know most lenders will not even read this because the numbers seem to illustrate such a clear picture of who I am financially. I can guarantee however, that the person or people who take the risk for me, will be paid back in dividends because I will NOT default on this loan. I am working to restore my credit - not continue the bad cycle that has plagued me in the past. This last $1000 will allow me to clear up lingering debts, free up much more of my paychecks, and I will be able to pay this loan off well before the 3 year time frame. My financial situation: I am a good candidate for this loan because I have a great job, where I am highly respected in my company, but secretly ashamed because I know I have poor credit. I received a promotion in February, and so much of the higher salary has been used to pay off old debts to help my credit score. I am a long way away from AA credit, but I have set a goal to get to a C within a year. Although my credit score doesn't illustrate my good faith to pay, I will pay this loan back on time, each month. I want my credit score to match my personality, my determination, my dedication to hard work. This small loan will be the largest contributor to help get me current on my last lingering continuous late pay: I need to bring my high interest car payment current. If ten to twenty Prosper lenders have faith in me, it will prove to be an extremely smart financial decision on their part.
