I have been married for a year and a half. We have recently purchased our first home and want to establish ourselves better financially which means clearing up credit and establishing ourselves for a more positive future. I am an Operations Project Manager for my company and my wife is an accountant for Coca Cola and together we gross $98,500 annually. As you can see, my DTI is very low. Besides our mortgage, we have 2 cars that we pay $400 a piece for. Both of them will be paid off by November 06. This will leave only our mortgage, IRS payment ($150 a month ? Explanation Below, which will be paid off in February 2007), and the payments for this Prosper loan. My credit is not bad, mostly because of not having credit, but I do have one public record that you may see. EXPLANATION: My previous employer did not provide a company car so I used my personal vehicle for business usage. I did not receive any other car allowance nor did I receive company reimbursement for T and E like lunch while outside my home area. I did receive 12 cents per mile for my travel. At that time, the national average for mileage reimbursement was 38-40 cents per mile. Since I was only reimbursed 12 on the mile, I was eligible to claim the remaining un-reimbursed mileage on my taxes of which I did. I did keep records of my travel on log sheets that I kept in my desk at work. I also was entitled to some reimbursement for cell phone usage and meals which I also kept track of in files kept at work. On March 28, 2003, my employer was officially seized by the government for violating federal laws. I was on vacation at this time but I was contacted by a co worker informing me of the news. When I got back in town, I visited my office to retrieve all of my personal records and was not allowed. I was told that all paperwork in the building was the property of the Federal Government and that it would be released at a later time. The company never paid any of its employees for a month of wages and till this day has never settled any of the monies owed to former employees. The company at this time owes me $6700. They are no longer in business. I got audited a month or so later but could not obtain my financial records from the Insurance commissioners office. Without this information, I could not prove the deductions that I had claimed were legitimate. I was 24 years old and if I would have known then what I know now, I would have gotten legal representation to help with this ordeal. After the audit, I had to repay the tax return that was issued to me and also the penalty monies. On my credit it has tax lien but it should have installment agreement. They will not change. Besides that we are in good standing and believe in paying what we owe. The loan will help us tremendously in clearing some small issues on our credit and also with things needed for our American Dream House. Thank you in advance for your consideration. |
