Purpose of loan: My father, a high school principal in Tacoma for 30 years, had a small shop in an expanded section of the attached garage at my parents house and made beautiful items out of hardwood. He mostly did it for my mother who was always grateful for anything he made or did for her. These items included various wooden pen sets, decorative cane handles and wooden bowls. These items were either kept by my mother or given to friends and relatives. Extra pens were sold or just given out to people he met throughout the day. In 1994 at the age of 70, he suddenly died of liver cancer. For the past 14 years, my mother has left his shop untouched. It was all too much for her to accept at the time. All the projects in progress still sit as if waiting for him to return to finish them. She passes them every time she goes out to her section of the garage where her car is parked. Dad passed on his knowledge to my each time I was home on leave from the military. In 2005, after 25 years, I finally retired. Now, I want to continue those unfinished projects gathering dust, not only as a tribute to my father, but as therapy for my mother, knowing that dad is still with her through me. I need to set up a small workshop. I have contacted local companies to get estimates. The building will be approximately $3700 not including electrical setup. I will dig the trenches for the conduit myself and have the wiring installed by professionals to save money. Financial situation: I am receiving my retired military pay plus I am 70% Disabled American Veteran and receive VA compensation. I was in the big sandbox on the first day of the Iraq War. I work as a school bus driver during the school year. This allows me to spend as much time as possible with my wife and two young girls. My wife also works but her income is not reflected as this is a personal loan. Here is a breakdown Take home income: $1,240 School Bus $1,605 Retirement $1,380 VA Compensation $4,225 Total Expenses $1,675 Mortgage $765 Second Mortgage $250 Auto Loan $500 Motorhome Loan (listed as mortgage for second home) $265 Auto Insurace for three vehicles $165 Phone, Internet, Cable $120 Cell Phone $3,740 Total Food Gas and Entertainment is taken from my wife's income. |
