I've been a San Antonio Police Officer for over 8yrs now. I need some "up front" money to pay an outside attorney to take a custody case concerning my 15yr old son. I am a member of CLEAT (Combined Law Enforcement Agencies of Texas). They do provide an attorney but I wish to go with someone who is a bit more aggressive. CLEAT will actually reimburse me up to $3000 dollars but I must send in an itemized statement first of all attorney fees to be eligible. I plan on hiring a lawyer who I highly recommend to anyone in the San Antonio area, she's a bit pricey but well worth it, she requires $5000 up front before she will take any action. My ex is sneaky and will pull all sorts of stunts to ensure that my son stays with her... He wants to come live with me, but she does not want to let him go without a "fight". He has become a source of income for her as she receives child support and SSI, due to my son being deaf. I will not receive child support or SSI due to my income so I can ensure you this is NOT about money for me! I just don't have $5000 dollars in "my pocket" right now to hire this attorney. I have a car that I'm selling to make up for the difference. I spent 4 yrs active duty Army, 4 yrs Texas National Guard, and 2 yrs with the Navy Reserve. I have always taken responsibility for my actions and believe in the golden rule on and off duty. I have a secure career and my income actually increases as the years pass. I have given my time to people who need me, not because its my job, but because I believe in helping others when they feel they have no one to turn to... it is very hard for me to ask, let alone accept help from people. Hope you can give me a chance... I've been with the same credit union for 10yrs now and don't plan on jumping ship just to rip someone off.. In my profession I am expected to hold a higher caliber of integrity and I do so with pride.. Payments will be made by automatic withdrawals from my bank account so it will be paid on time everytime... My credit went down hill during the divorce so it has been hard for me to get financing through a regular bank, my credit was good before the divorce for almost ten years and I plan on rebuilding what I have lost.
