Purpose of loan: The purpose of my loan is to finance the purchase of a reliable used car. I currently live at home with my parents and commute 40 miles each way to work in their old pickup truck that gets 11.6 mpg. Of course, gas prices are pretty painful. Because I value reliability in vehicles, I'm in the market for a 9 to 11 year old Lexus ES300, probably with around 110,000 miles on it. Once I buy it, I intend to move out of my parents house and get an apartment close to where I work to save on gas even more. My financial situation: My financial situation is very good. Though I don't earn much as a young teacher in a small private school, I am very frugal and responsible with my money. I have two student loans, one of which will be paid off in September. I often pay more than the amount due on the other loan. I also pay my credit card bill in its entirety every month. Moreover, even though I created a strict budget for myself a year ago, my spending has been about 10% under budget, and this year I've also given away 13% of my gross income to charities. My monthly budget/spending looks like this: Rent/Parents: $800 Gas: $425 (during the school year; it's much lower in the summer) Student loans: $219 (will be $179 starting in October) All other spending: $250 |
