The Person: I'm from West Markham, Illinois but I have lived in various areas of North and South America throughout my life. I moved back to Rochester, New York in July 2007 to primarily to live there?secondary, to re-attend the Rochester Institute of Technology as a Computer Science major. It's been a good year more or less, especially for my first time living completely on my own. I will confess that it has been difficult juggling school, work and play but I will also confess that I have been happier than I have been in years. The Credit Grade: I overextended myself recently and couldn't afford to pay several bills, I have slowly been catching up. I currently have about 3 delinquent accounts totaling about $500. I have a prosper payment that was <1 mo. late. The reason was because I switched primary bank accounts and assumed the payment would be taken from the old account but it wasn't and as a result the payment was ~2-4 days late. Other than that, I have been paying it off faithfully since I got it. The Income: I freelance as a web developer, assist as a systems administrator, I am an author, I am a custodian, I help my family with their electrical business when I?m home during my free summers and lastly, I get Social Security Benefits (through my father who is a war veteran). This nets me around $20,000 on a bad year. The Outcome: Student bill of $1,300 paid off. $1,300 in credit paid off (includes the $500 currently delinquent). The remaining money is mostly for minor car repairs (estimate was around $200), travel expenses, to down pay something on my current prosper loan and provide just a little breathing room. |
