My finances became tangled and messy while I was in school and surviving off of student loans and parental help. I was young and not especially bright financially. But I have learned the hard way and am now trying to repair past damage. Since I obtained a steady job six months ago, I have been steadily paying off my balances (which were over $5000 a year ago) and now only have $2000 left from one account. I would like to pay this off in one big chunk because I want a clean slate when I begin looking to buy a house in a year. I do not want this past debt and their accompanying finance charges to remain on my credit report. I want to clean my credit report as soon as possible.
I believe that I have demonstrated, with my recent paying down of balances, that I have indeed learned my lesson. I understand the meaning and value of money now and am careful to live within my means and budget.
