My fiance and I are trying Prosper to see if we can use it to pay off our variable rate 2nd mortgage.  We only have $15,700 left to pay on it and it was up to around $27,000 only a year ago.  We currently pay $800 per month on the loan (above the $185 minimum payment)  We have used the line of credit to fund our upcoming wedding in August.  We want to get rid of the variable rate that is currently 11.25%.  When we originally made the loan, the rate was around 8%.  It has risen quite a bit due the the fed raising interest rates...  So we want to get it locked in, and we want to see if Prosper is all that we have read that it is!

My fiance and I are both young prefessionals (27 and 30), and we have great jobs in the healthcare and finance/accounting fields.  Our income is above average at over $150,000 and we have a good amount of assets for our age.  The problem with our assets is that none of them are really liquid except for the equity in our home.

We have a humble home valued at $190k with $60K in current equity.
We own 80 acres of land outside of our town worth an appraised $8,000 per acre (not liquid)
We have just under $80K in our retirement accounts. (not liquid)
We have a savings acount with $12,000.

The $12,000 we are using as our emergency fund as opposed to paying off the line of credit...

We are both extremely responsible, and neither of us have EVER missed a payment on anything.
Thanks for looking in and we look forward to helping some individuals earn some better than average interest.
Would rather pay it to someone rather than to the bank....
