My fiancee and I recently moved from California to Texas. Unfortunately, I had just lost my job in California, and had to move, and fund that move with our credit cards.
Things were going well; we were slowly getting things paid off, when suddenly one of our credit card companies raised our interest rate to the maximum. Apparently, we "were paying things off too fast", which is bad for our credit card companies.
The amount we're looking for would help us get rid of the worst of our debt. Once we get rid of this card, we can look toward buying a house, and finally getting married!
