Purpose of loan: This loan will be used to finance the start up of a business services venture targeting nonprofit organizations. Named Nonprofit Answers, the business will provide low-cost, hands on help to nonprofit organizations in the Madison WI area, including bookkeeping, office management, grant writing, and marketing and public relations services. It is our hope that the organization will provide a needed service to small nonprofits who cannot afford to add more staff or even temporary help. We will take on small and large projects, charging by the hour. Our rates will be flexible--as low as $20 per hour--in the hope that the service will be affordable to any organization. I will use the loan to incorporate the business as an LLC, create marketing materials which I will distribute to nearly 1500 nonprofit organizations in the Madison area, networking, professional organization membership and certification, and client development, as well as basic business functions and supplies for the first three months in business, including cell phone, office supplies, and business software. I can provide a detailed start-up budget for the business, and am currently working up a business plan to help keep the venture focused and to also help secure future working capital. I also can provide detailed information on my professional training and experience. My financial situation: I am currently working to secure temporary employment to supplement my income while cultivating my first round of clients. I expect to have a position secured by the first of April. I am a good candidate for this loan because I have a decade of experience working with and for nonprofit organizations, the last five in management level positions, with extensive professional fundraising experience. I hold a Masters degree in Business with a focus on nonprofit arts administration. I also have many connections in the Madison business and nonprofit communities, many of which I have already begun networking with. I have several client leads presently, and simply need start up cash to push the venture forward. Also, there is currently no other business in the Madison area providing these types of services to the area's nonprofit community, which currently has over 3000 organizations. |
