Hello, Now that I've been working at this great new job at an investment company for a couple of months, I'm ready to be more deliberate about my financial choices. I just graduated from graduate school in May, and I accumulated about $15,000 in credit card debt during that time. I also have student loans which are in their final grace periods as I write this. So, with a loan from you kind Prosper folk, I hope to save a little money on my outstanding credit card debt of around $9,700. My initial loan request here is about a third of that because this is my first time and I'd like to tread carefully on this website. I plan to make payments of the minimum amount on this Prosper loan. Any excess funds will be used to pay down the credit cards. With the help of this loan, I hope to be clear of the credit cards by December 2006. I told a friend of mine on the phone the other day that now that I actually have a good paying job, I spend less money. She suggested that it's because I have less time to buy, but that's not really true given my previous life as a graduate student. What I think is happening to me is that I'm not afraid of my debt anymore. I have the means to deal with it and the time to strategize around it. I'm actually making 3 meals a day for myself instead of buying 3 meals a day. It feels very good.
