LOAN PURPOSE: Reliable vehicle. Reasonably priced, likely to avoid major repairs for several years.

My old car has died, and I've been denied an auto loan because of my credit. If I can?t get a loan here, I?ll have to tap my IRA, which I know is unwise, but I am out of options. I live in a rural area, so this is an urgent need. Carpooling is not easy!

PLEASE NOTE:
• As of 1/1/08, I pay no rent! Being relieved of such a large expense makes it easier to pay this loan.

• I do have a small amount saved towards this purchase. If I find a car for less than the loan amount, the difference will pay back the loan.

• I've listed at the highest interest allowed by my state.

My partner and I have had a rough couple of months. Due to an unexpected death in the family, we just moved into a family-owned home that is in need of some major repairs. (I recently attempted to get a loan for home repairs. I am actually glad that didn?t work out! Those can wait; this is far more necessary now.) We had to purchase a stove and have some electrical work done immediately upon moving in, which set us back quite a bit. Worst of all, my partner fell off a roof and suffered a severe ankle injury just before Christmas. He has been unable to work. I can cover our expenses (including this loan), but all things considered at this time, saving for the car will take longer than I can afford to wait.

ABOUT ME:
33, Graphic Designer, with the same company for 5 yrs. I have a B.A. from a great college and a stellar employment history. I live conscientiously, responsibly and frugally.

This will be my second Prosper loan; I have one in repayment, fully current.

MY CREDIT:
My current FICO scores are actually higher than the Scorex model used by Prosper. Some of my ?delinquencies? are inaccurate. (I have been fighting to clean up inaccuracies on my credit reports for years.) My record has been solid for several years.

I got my financial education the hard way and my credit's been paying the price for years. When I was young and new to credit, I maintained good credit on paper, but was not financially responsible or secure. In 2001 (after 9/11) I experienced one crisis after another, including a bout of depression that completely derailed me. A few missed bill payments and my credit quickly hit rock bottom.

By the end of 2002, I got a grip on my life and money issues. I changed jobs, moved to a less expensive area, and put a lot of energy into educating myself, paying down debt, and using my money responsibly. It's been the most excruciating, humbling and empowering process of my life. I've accepted my mistakes and see them as valuable lessons. I know I?m on the right track. I?ve made great progress, despite a small salary, and I'm confident in my ability to handle borrowed money wisely. Still, I am crippled by my credit scores.

MONTHLY DETAILS:
This loan, and my partner?s contributions to the household when he is able to begin working again (this month) will eliminate some of these payments. I?ve included them to fully prove my ability to pay the loan.

Cell phone: $80

Cable/phone/internet: $100

Other utilities: $60
