I?m a young African-American woman entrepreneur in the Portland, Oregon metro area who?s working hard to make my restaurant, Dessert Noir Cafe & Bar, successful.  Dessert Noir Cafe & Bar is an upscale suburban dining destination offering customers the sense and sensibility of a downtown restaurant close to home.  With a prime location in a newly-revitalized shopping center next to a 16-screen multiplex, our award-winning restaurant offers much more than the name implies.  It features savory small plates and appetizers, specialty cocktails, wine, and handcrafted desserts.  Our unique setting offers live music, weekly specials, and fun events, and our unparalleled signature creations have won over the taste buds of megastar patron Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman as well as local luminaries and celebrities.  We are gaining recognition and building a reputation as a trendsetter at the local and national level.  Check out www.dessertnoir.com for more details.

In the short term, the proceeds from this loan will be used for working capital to meet our current commitments.  In the long term, I am seeking additional equity investment and a larger debt refinancing/consolidation deal to improve the company's cash position and lay the foundation for our growth strategy for new locations.  Like many entrepreneurs, I "bootstrapped" this business when I launched it in Jan. 2005.  In addition to securing friends-and-family investors, I brought the vast majority of the funds for the business to the table myself.  I still have my "day job" as a marketing manager for a major high-tech company, and I went after every single dollar I had in savings, stock, home equity, and credit lines.  Now at three years into the business, I need a debt refinancing/consolidation and working capital deal, but every bank in this town with the means and wherewithal to help me, even the ones with whom I currently conduct business, simply won?t because my business doesn?t fit nicely and neatly into their spreadsheets and formulas.

Looking at the bigger picture, my dreams and aspirations do not stop with this restaurant.  I'm creating additional revenue opportunities for my business, including writing a book that my agent is currently pitching to publishers, pursuing speaking engagements, and providing marketing/communications consulting services.  Don't be surprised if you're hearing about me on the "airwaves" in the very near future.

This will be my second Propser loan.  The first one I paid off in nine months and I have a similar plan for repayment on this listing.  Additionally, if there's a private lender in this network who has vision, is willing to look at the potential of this business, views me as a human being who brings a job and an ability to pay the loan to the table, and sees my business as an opportunity to get behind a great concept and support an entrepreneur who?s absolutely committed to its success, then let?s talk.
