The idea behind Prosper is genius! Finally, a lending place that looks at more than just a credit score. My first Prosper loan allowed me to pay back my dad for some very pricey repairs on my poor old vehicle. If you look at that loan history you will see perfect on-time payments from the very beginning! This time I need a loan for a triple purpose: pay off a small credit card balance, cover Christmas expenses, and complete the fees for my daughters to go on a high school choir tour. I am a mom and a teacher. This is my 20th year of teaching junior high! I love my job, because I really enjoy the kids. I've been teaching in the same school/same district for all these years. I once heard that you should find a job you would do for free, and stick with it. That's me. I would do this job for free. BUT... life requires money! I am aware that my credit score is low. 4 years ago, my husband and I had to file a Chapter 13 bankruptcy as a result of his business going belly-up. The records from that time period make me cringe, but I know the whole story and I am proud of what has happened since. The bankruptcy allowed us to get back on our feet. It is now discharged, and we are pleased to report a perfect payment history in regards to that as well. I do want to point out that the delinquencies on my credit report are all from that time period and are no longer delinquent! The whole history does put a big ding in the credit score however. I am a tenured teacher, with a great employment history. My job, although not high paying, is very secure. My loan payments come directly out of my monthly pay check. I hope to find lenders who will accept my employment history as a greater indicator of stability than my credit history shows. Thank you for viewing my listing and reading my story.
