Purpose of loan: This loan will be used to pay off balances on a couple of credit cards, thereby lowering my overall interest rate! Being an avid investor, I have been a loaner on Prosper for a year, and have decided to delve into the borrowing side. My financial situation: I am a good candidate for this loan because as you can see by my credit rating, I do take care of my obligations in a timely manner. The delinquency in my past was due to unpaid state taxes. The one year I used a professional accountant to help me with my taxes was the last time! Not only did I get charged over $300, the end result of what I owed was the same as I had already calculated (even though they were supposed to save me some tax liability!) - they submitted two extensions and then failed to turn over my taxes to the state in the end. It took over a year for my taxes to be "done" and I wasn't paying all that much attention by the end of it all. The State of Kansas contacted me a few years later to inform me that I was in arrears. *sigh* What a mess. You'd figure that a day after the extension is over, they would drop a letter in the mail, but hey - then they can't charge you several years of interest and late fees, right? :) As my income band suggests, my monthly income is over $6,250. I took the better part of 2007 to give my own business a go, and wound up running up some credit card debt. The business is small, and will hopefully grow, but I decided to take a full-time job to support my family. I learned a lot about running my own business - that is for sure! My wife also has a small income via home-based business. She primarily spend times enhancing our kids' lives being active in the school and community. |
