I have secured a full-time position as an IT professional at a local start-up beginning January 2, 2007. Unfortunately, the meager amounts I have been making until this point were not enough to pay all of my bills--in particular my rent has been falling further behind each month. Two hospital visits and an eye infection have diverted some of my funds for the more immediate problem of my health, but I still have significant debt from the hospital bills. My new position comes with a generous salary ($45k/year + 10% bonus) and health insurance that will help me avoid future financial problems due to medical issues. My landlord has a short temper and is demanding a full payment on the amount past due by January 10, which leaves me in a very tight spot. I hope to secure a loan to bring my housing lease current without falling further behind on anything else. I will be able to make large monthly payments, thanks to my new salary, and I would like to raise my credit rating so I will be in good shape when I need a larger loan for a car or house.
