I am married and the mother of 5 daughters. I have been a public school teacher for the past 18 years. I love my job, because I really enjoy the kids. I've been teaching in the same school/same district for all these years. I once heard that you should find a job you would do for free, and stick with it. That's me. I would do this job for free. Unfortunately... life requires money! I am aware that my credit score is low. My husband and I are recovering from a Chapter 13 bankruptcy filed in 2003. He was a self-employed financial advisor during the Sept. 11th attacks. The resulting stock market insecurity following that time period left us really struggling as his business virtually dried up. We are back on our feet, but we are still dragging the bad credit history of 2002-03 with us. I am a tenured teacher, with a great employment history. My job, although not high paying, is very secure. I can handle reasonable payments on a loan, but the trick has been getting a loan with such poor history. Our oldest two daughters are involved in a school performance group that is going on tour this spring. We would love for them to have this opportunity, and need to find a way to pay their travel expenses. They will only get these high school opportunities once! My hope is that I can find a lender who will accept my employment history as a greater indicator of stability than my credit history shows. |
