For the past year 1 1/2 I've been trying to start-up RentCollegeBooks.com. Here's the basic concept: Students pick which classes they have on the web site Students receive their books through campus(free) mail or postal office After their last day of class their send the book back In the end students don't have to spend hours looking for good deals and they don't get ripped off by the book store during buy back. A pilot program was made during Fall of 2005 and went pretty well. About 15 books were rented out with 100% return rate. One of the problems was new editions of books from semester to semester. To combat this we will only buy books that are copyrighted 2004 or more. We will also double check different between editions to see whether or not major changes have been made. Use of MoneyThe money will be used for marketing around campus and we may hire a graphic artist to design a good poster and print them out. Most of the money will be spent on building our inventory of books to gain as many customers as possible. Risk Risk of me not paying is medium, since I am a college student I don't have alot of money but I don't have that many expensive as well. Housing is paid for and I do have a job I would about 16 hours a week make about $10/hr. I have only requested a small amount of money that I know I can pay off. If it doesn't work out my family will help me out. GoalsWe want to make a buzz on campus and we think we can do it.
