Purpose of loan:
As I am getting married March 15th, 2008 I would like to consolidate and pay off my revolving credit debt.

My financial situation:
I am healthy, educated, professional in a committed relationship who respects his financial commitments. My debt is manageable yet since relocating to be closer to my fiancee deposits and moving expenses have limited my ability to pay more on my credit cards. I have fully funded my retirement 403b at work (similar to a 401k) and have taken great care to provide insurance for myself including health, disability, short and long term care.

Why should you bid on my loan:
Good credit is part of the reason you should consider bidding on my loan request but there is more to know about me before trusting me with their money. I consider bad debt, such as credit card debt, to be the biggest threat to prosperity and the attainment of the American dream. I learned this working with my father and grandfather on their ranches. I know the value of a days earnings. I have lived on my own since age 16, put myself through two college degrees with honors, purchased a home, lived a moral centered life as a Christian, honoring my family and friends and most importantly enjoyed my work and career.

If you met me on the street you would know my character by my kindness to others, positive outlook and joy of life.

Monthly net income: $ 3,609.41

  Clothing, household: $100.00
  Credit cards: $265.00
  Student Loan: $65.00
  Miscellaneous: $50.00

With the exception of the money I am putting away for an emergency fund all the remainder of my income goes toward retiring my credit card debt.

Discussion For This Listing

Hi, I am a new member of Prosper and have listed a loan. If you would care to review my application I would appreciate any comments and suggestions. Those of you who are borrowers I believe my history of responsible debt management will encourage you to consider funding my loan. Regardless thanks for reading my loand and thanks Prosper for making microlending available (at a healthy profit I notice, lol) to everyone.

Start your interest rate higher and let it get bid down... You may have a hard time getting the initial bids at that rate..

I agree, many of us leaders do not even look at a loan unless it is 20 - 30% funded already. So, start with a higher rate to get the initial bids. Then since you have good credit it will get bid down

The problem is that I reside in Texas and THIS IS the highest maximum interest allowed. Any suggestions? I

ran this same request ten days ago and got 60% funding....thought I might try again.

Also, I have joined the Texas Excellence group but haven't had a reply from the group moderator....I will be patient I'm sure he has a real life! I thought this might help as the lenders from Texas would be aware of this short coming.

BTW Thanks for the help.

I don't know if your group leader is still active. Many groups have gone by the wayside since Prosper eliminated compensation for GL's. You may try getting some attention at the forums at www.prospers.org by posting in the "Check Out My Listing" forum. It still may not work out for you with the rate cap, but best of luck.

Thanks, it is now available for bidding so I assume it was approved though my mail message to the leader goes unanswered. Maybe I will switch after the loan request is complete. Any group suggestions?

Wow, I see the problem with living in a low interest rate state like Texas. It isn't so much that people are not happy earning a lower return on a good investment it is that without some early movement NO ONE bids on the loan. It makes me wish I was allowed to contact the people who bid on the loan the first listing that got 85%.

I am not sure you are correct with the cap for Texas. I also have a loan and have Texas Excellence (was Prosperers) as our group leader (I do believe he is still active as he actually cared about the process, not just the rewards). Anyway, he has lots of loans at a higher rate than that. We also were AA rated and started our loan at 24% just so that everybody would notice and bid it down (which they did to 12.94%) http://www.prosper.com/lend/listing.aspx?listingID=90716 .If you click on the group loans, they range from 8% to 28.75% . I hope that AlexBey can help you with this. I love Prosper as both a borrower and a lender, and know that with your good credit, a lot could be done. Good luck, Peacock
