Good news is that I only need 4000.00.. Obained a loan from Citi Finicial which will cover upto 1700. dollars...  Wife started her new job and that has definitely been a blessing.  Her annual salary is $42,000. - Mine is a shade under $75,000

Thanks.

********************************************* ORIGINAL LISTING *****************************************************

Hi,
I need this money, to urgently fix some major plumbing and insulation issues we have with the house.

We bought this house (our first), a couple years ago under 'as is' condition - we recently had some plumbing issue - sewage backup...gross stuff, I know - but something that needs to fix urgently.

As far as insulation goes, things are okay, excepting for some hot water lines that go up through the attic.. I need to double up on the insulation and run some insulation tapes so the pipes don't freeze up (like they did last year) :-(  plus there's some water damage over the kitchen ceiling that needs attention.  I am not much of a handy-man and hence have to rely on professional help here..(hence the hefty expenses).

I got estimates from a plumber and a couple handymen - the total material + labor costs run up to $5000 - I am assuming a buffer (reserve) of 1k and hence requesting help with $6000 in total

My financial situation:
I have had a steady job since 1996 and a very decent income. The company that I work for was recently purchased by another company - and hence, my profile will indicate that the term of employment as 9 months, (even though I have been with the previous company since 1996).

I did some stupid mistakes early on (run up credit cards etc) and still paying for it.  I have learnt from my mistakes and trying not to use credit cards, unless it's CRICITCAL.. I guess I could have opted to use my cards for my current situation - except that the rates are around 17-19%..  I want to keep my credit lines open as long as I can.

I have some money in 401k, stocks and some stashed away in savings - I definitely don't want to touch them, again, unless it's absolutely necessay.

My wife will be starting on her new assignment on 11/26 - that should ease up my situtation. (P.S:  I haven't included her income in my profile)

Monthly net income: $
$4,600 (not including my wife's new salary - which I estimate will be around $2,600 per month - take home)

Monthly expenses: $ 3965
  Housing: $ 1085
  Insurance: $ 330
  Car expenses: $ 600
  Utilities: $ 150
  Phone, cable, internet: $ 50
  Food, entertainment: $ 500
  Clothing, household expenses $ 200
Credit cards and other loans: $ 800
  Other expenses: $ 250
