My husband and I have worked hard to overcome some of the self imposed financial hurdles over the last decade.  We continue to diligently pay down our CC expenses through our consolidation (some of mine from earlier in life are all that are left).  We are still frugal with our money, however, I did have to breakdown and get a new vehicle (both of our vehicles were over 10 years old - we held out as long as possible).

We have been saving quite some time to work on these kitchen improvements, howevver, a teenage son and his orthodontist dipped into those funds.  With our previous credit history and DTI ratio, we are not a bank's choice of borrowers. Right now, my debt to income ratio is high because I have previous credit card expenses, and a mortgage and car which are tied to my name, even though they are based on both of our incomes. However, our previous experience with Prosper was positive and so we decided to try this route.

Ultimately, if it doesn't work, we will put it back on hold for just a bit longer.  We would simply like to get the kitchen project underway before my husband deploys again in September.  Otherwise, my kitchen waits until 2009! :(

 POTENTIAL CONCERNS REGARDING CREDIT REPORT:
  • There are two delinquent payments that show on my credit report, however, those were corrected.  These were for my student loans (subsidized/unsubsidized). My enrollment status was not updated by the school and the loan payments were reinstated.  The enrollemt was updated and this should be corrected with the next update to the credit reporting agencies.
  • The number of open accounts is high, however, my student loans are listed individually.

If there are other questions, do not hesitate to ask me!
