Seven years ago I was in an accident and was off of work. We had the average amount of debt and things snowballed quickly. Most creditors set up a plan to pay interest only for a short amount of time and we avoided filing bankruptcy. I believe most everyone in our circumstance would have taken the bankruptcy route, but we felt strongly about meeting our obligations. There were a handful of "purchasers of our credit" who would take nothing but the full payments. Without any regard for our situation, the phone calls continued to our home and work. We finally did some research and "formally" told the creditors to never contact us again, they wouldn't be receiving a dime.
In retrospect, it wasn't the right thing to do. We have corresponded with many people in this community and desire strongly to be lenders also. We desire the people we are making loans to on prosper to make good on their obligations as well. So, we posted a need for a loan for our Scrapbooking Retreat and it wasn't funded. We have found alternative financing for this venture and decided to relist for a small loan to pay the last few remaining creditors from my accident many years ago. This should bump our credit rating up to a "B" soon. Please bid with the confidence the loan will be paid in full and on time. Thank You! |
