I am an Executive Administrative Assistant to the Director of Information Technology at a local company that employs more than 900 people.  I began this job in February of 2006, but have been an Administrative Assistant for over eight years total.  My husband is a supervisor at a local plant and has been employed there for thirteen years come January.

We have already had 2 loans through Prosper, the 1st of which we have already paid back in full.  We have one loan outstanding with Prosper that has been paid on time for the last 16 consecutive months. We used the first loan for a special long weekend away for our 9th anniversary, and our second loan was used to consolidate several small debts into one payment, including some small balance, high interest credit cards.

We are now seeking to take out another loan to help us recuperate from my husband being off work due to a severe back injury.  On October 10th of 2006, my husband woke up one morning and was unable to get out of bed without my help.  We took him to a doctor and found that he had two herniated disks in his lower back that more than likely occurred during his shift the previous evening.  To make a long story short, his employer denied the work comp claim and we have spent the last 11 months disputing their denial.  Fortunately, my husband was able to return to work in March of this year.  He is still experiencing pain, but he is able to carry out the duties of his job.

My husband's job accounts for between 1/2 and 2/3 of our income, and losing that for 6 months put our finances into disarray.  I did the best I could to manage on my income alone, but we had to let alot of bills slide while we fought the legal battle over his work comp denial.  GOOD NEWS THOUGH!!  As of last month, we reached an agreement with the work comp insurance that resulted in a payout of $5000 in cash, and an agreement to pay all his medical bills from October 2006 through October 2007.  I know that $5000 doesn't seem like much for six months worth of lost wages, but we just could NOT afford to continue the legal battle with no guarantee of a positive outcome.

We would like to take this $5000 insurance payment, and combine it with the funds from this $5000 loan to pay off all the bills that we had to let slide during his six months off, or to at least pay off some and bring the rest current.  My husband has been back to work since March, and makes $31,928 a year (before overtime is added); I am also employed full-time and gross $27,600 a year.  I receive child support from my oldest daughter's father in the amount of $5,167 per year.  Therefore, our total  income is $64,695 a year (before husband's overtime) and more than adequate to meet our financial obligations once we have brought everything current again.

Because of his six months off work, and the financial difficulties that resulted, my credit rating is now considered HR (was E).  However, we have a proven track record with Prosper, spanning from June 2006 until now, with no missed or late payments.  This illustrates our dedication to meeting our financial committments to Prosper and the people behind it.  This is a great site that can help so many people - both lenders and borrowers!

As we have mentioned in our previous loan listings, we are working towards becoming as financially secure as possible and hope to become a lender on Prosper someday, once our finances are more secure.  We really believe that this site is a wonderful alternative to the traditional lending institutions - and it brings a really great group of people together!
