Hello, Here we are again my friend. 8^) I am an independent producer in Los Angeles CA. (Imagine that!) I worked in the music business for about 20 years (Edgar Winter, Porno for Pyros, Joe Walsh) until I was injured on the job in 2000 and had to change careers. After my accident I had trouble finding work I could do with the physical restrictions I now have. That caused some financial problems which still affect my credit rating. I have now built a new life and career around film and TV production. I am currently teaching at a school for post production in the fields of Avid (picture editing) and Pro Tools (sound editing) and really have found my niche. I am on the way to rebuilding my credit and financial life and my new business of making and producing independent film. The first film I worked on "The Day my God died" was nominated for the "Best Documentary" Emmy in 2005. I have built an amazing team of writers, directors, editors, sound designers, and production people who are extraordinarily talented and dedicated to their craft. We are collectively known as AHiP Pictures (it?s a hip picture! get it? hehe). All the while his mother and her cronies are trying to fix him up with a ?nice Romanian girl?. Boy meets girl, loses girl, gets girl back, and everybody learns important lessons. We have an amazing script, outstanding writer director, excellent cast, really great production people, and true to the tradition in Hollywood, we are long on talent and short on cash. To keep our creative independence we have always self-financed and have in fact already put together about $10,000.00, but we need your help. We are budgeted at $15,000.00 and need the final $5000.00 to begin filming. We own most all of our own cameras, lights, sound, and editing equipment so the things we need to pay for are location fees, production insurance, and feeding people. (We can get people to work really hard for free but the food has got to be great!) Independent films have become more of the mainstream industry than you might imagine. Historically big studios made the majority of the films, and independent companies made ?B? movies. Now around 80% of films are created and financed outside the studio system and then picked up by a major studio for distribution. I?m sure you have noticed recently that most big budget studio films are sequels, or remakes of old ideas. The new and interesting stuff is happening in the indy scene, and we are right in the middle of it. ?Napoleon Dynamite? cost $400,000.00 to make and grossed over $100 Million worldwide. We are trying for a mid July start date and looking to complete post production by January in order to submit to the Sundance Film Festival. When you think about it, It's less than fifty cents a day to help keep wayward filmmakers off the street and won't that make you feel better? 8^) Please contact me with any questions or comments.
