Hi there! My name is Dave and I'm looking for smarter ways to pay off the debt left over from my divorce. I'm an A- rated borrower with a 13% DTI ratio (note: It currently reads as 24%, but that's not counting the bill consolidation) I've been on a debt management program for over two years, but one of my three creditors (Discover) never accepted the terms of the program, so their interest rate is higher than the rest of the debt. I'm hoping I can bring its interest rate in line.
A little about me: I am an insurance broker for a Lloyd's wholesaler. I've worked in the insurance industry for over 10 years. But my real passion is working in the Freethought community. I organize and promote annual Bay Area special events for several science education organizations, including the Darwin Day Program, the National Center for Science Education, the Ask-A-Scientist lecture series, S.A.N.E. (U.C. Berkeley's secular student group) and other community organizations.
I am Director of Student Outreach for the Garrison-Martineau Project, a community?building non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging dialogue between believers and nonbelievers. In this capacity I've also worked with the Secular Student Alliance across the country. I really enjoy fostering communication between diverse groups. I've also served on the Steering Committee of San Francisco Atheists for over 5 years as their Action Coordinator, helping to put together special events, programs, rallies, parties, and street fairs, and appearing on TV, radio, and newspapers. I'm currently writing a book that examines the historicity of Christ.
I live in San Francisco with my gorgeous girlfriend, writer and former movie actress Dana. I love languages; I speak Irish Gaelic and a smattering of about twenty other languages (I can say almost nothing in almost every language). I love to fence, kickbox, dance, watch movies, and read. And I recently started volunteering at the Exotic Feline Breeding Compound in Rosamond, CA with Dana. "Love me, love my cats," she said. She wasn't kidding.
