My fellow Lenders, I didn't think I would ever find my own need for fulfillment here at Prosper, but the Summer heat has taken it's toll on our car. My mechanic thinks it could be anything from a bad thermostat, plugged radiator or even a dying transmission! So as I await a verdict from him later this week, I thought I would get the ball rolling with a loan request in hopes of accomplishing two things... A- Fix the car (wife and I share the car and commute together). B- Keep my credit history fresh and active. C- Test run things from the borrower's point of view! D- Payments will cost me less than my electric bill (even in the winter here in AZ)! So, now I get to explain where my "E" comes from. My wife and I are debt free and have been since 2003 (saved and eliminated all debts). This has pulled down my score faster than her score as I had the bulk of the debts originally. Paying off the debts brought much needed relief, however, it has negatively impacted my score (she's a C, but this is my need, so I am going to put this on my credit history). The one current delinquent account was an old cellphone account (Sprint) that went into collections. This was also paid in full to the collection agency back in Nov. 2003 when we deleted our debts. We had some issues with our credit counselors as well... They took the money and didn't pay the accounts off as they promised (FTC finally nailed them for it, but the damage was done for us). Rather than declare bankruptcy, we moved in with my in-laws for three years and worked to pay off all the accounts in full. If you want to build courage, live with your in-laws for three years! The "Facts" *We (wife and I) currently have over $2,600 in active loans in our Prosper portfolio. *My wife recently started a new job with higher pay, closer to home. *I recently received a raise at work and receive monthly bonuses based on stellar performance/sales. *We have money in a rainy day fund, but we are also looking at getting a house in two years. So we need to bulk up the score! *I am keeping the amount sane and petite ($1,500 should cover 99% of any foreseeable repairs). I would rather give lenders, some of whom I've worked closely with over the past few months, the opportunity to help me personally re-establish my credit score, repair the car (which could be a bolt to a new tranny issue) and receive a generous rate of return in the process. I'd rather be indebted to people I care about than to Visa or Mastercard if I had to choose! Sincerely, Jeff |
