Purpose of loan:

Hello. Thank you for spending a minute with my listing. I am a health care professional with a graduate degree and over 25 years clinical, managerial, and research experience. This includes a number of years with the Federal Government. I have overseen multi-million dollar projects and established a strong network of experts. My husband (a college-educated, service-disabled, military veteran with substantial experience in information technology) and I are forming a consulting business which will bring our experiences together and permit us to focus on securing medium-term contracts with the federal government and health care institutions. The loan proceeds will be used to market services (mostly trade shows and conferences, Internet advertising, networking events, maybe a marketing consultant), buy software, design and print brochures and business cards, recruit talent, and cover payroll until invoices are paid. It?s just a matter of securing that first contract and establishing a reputation for quality, after which the business should grow steadily.

We are acutely aware that the government is seeking to do more business with small and veteran-owned businesses, and we have two experienced, highly qualified people ready to come on board. We have spent the last several months researching the possibilities and laying the groundwork, spending several thousand dollars in savings in the process.

My financial situation:

Household income has varied, usually between 90 and 180K. We are projecting 145K this year. My husband and I split expenses down the middle. Establishing this business will take time and sacrifice, but it will provide for retirement and our son?s education. We expect to be able to secure our first contract, which should run from six months to two years, before January 2008. My total credit card debt is low, around $2,100. We haven?t attempted to buy a house because prices are ridiculous and the market is volatile.

Monthly net income: $ 5800

Monthly expenses: $ 2763
  Housing: $ 1125
  Insurance: $ 50
  Car expenses: $ 550
  Utilities: $ 100
  Phone, cable, internet: $ 88
  Food, entertainment: $ 250
  Clothing, household expenses $ 250
Credit cards and other loans: $ 300
  Other expenses: $ 50
