Purpose of loan: I am asking for this loan to help us pay medical expenses relating to infertility. Two years ago, my husband and I found out we were expecting our first child. We received this information on the anniversary of my father's death, and found out that our due date would be on or near my father's birthday. However, at 10 weeks we suffered a miscarriage. We were devastated, but decided to continue to try to start a family. After six months, we went to our doctor to find out if there was a reason for our inability to conceive. I was given medications, but after six more months we were sent to a fertility expert. We spent the next year undergoing four cycles of Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI). Despite the fact that I responded well to the medications, we still were unable to conceive. After testing and surgery, our specialist decided we were excellent candidates for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). We are currently in the midst of our first cycle, and our specialist is extremely optimistic that this time next year we will be holding a baby...or two. Throughout all of these treatments, we have been paying out-of-pocket. Insurance doesn't cover fertility treatments in our state. However, IVF is significantly more expensive than IUI. Continuing to pay for these treatments out-of-pocket would put an incredible strain on our finances, as we have to pay such large amounts each time we visit our doctor ($4000 over the past two weeks, with appointments everyother day), a stressor that certainly doesn't help our chances of conceiving. We have spent the past two years celebrating with family and friends as they welcomed beautiful sons and daughters into their lives. We have shared in their joy with open hearts, in spite of our own painful situation. We are happy to be auntie and uncle, but wish we could be mommy and daddy, too. We are looking for a short-term loan with a managable interest rate to help us spread out the cost of these treatments. We hope that Prosper will help us acheive our dreams of becoming parents. My financial situation: I have been in my current position for ten years. We both have secure jobs, and are well established in our careers. Also, we take great pride in the fact that we paid off both of our cars within a year, and that we consistently pay off our loans early. Monthly net income: $4037 (+ $3300 husband's income) Monthly expenses: $3915 Housing: $2200 Insurance: $135 Car expenses: $0 (both cars are paid off) Utilities: $150 Phone, cable, internet: $330 Food, entertainment: $300 Clothing, household expenses $200 Credit cards and other loans: $600 Other expenses: $200 |
