Purpose of loan: While finishing my undergrad degree in 2005 as a non-traditional student (mid-30?s) I accumulated some debt on a Chase Visa. Due to being close to my credit limit they raised my rates to 24.25%. This was entirely due to the balance and not late payments. A very unfair policy in my estimation. I am looking to pay this debt off with a lower interest loan. The obvious reason is to save money on interest but I also want to keep Chase from getting any more of it!! It was a pleasure cutting up the card! My financial situation: I am currently working as a computer programmer and earning close to $50,000 with bonuses. I am able to meet my monthly obligations and am paying more than the minimum on my credit cards but I am not getting the debt paid down as fast as I would like due to the high rates. I have called to see about getting a lower rate but to no avail. I am currently working on my MBA at one of the top business schools in the US and my employer is paying the tuition. My economic outlook for the future is very bright! I have always been a responsible borrower and meet my financial obligations on time.
