Purpose: Pay 1 time bills with high monthly payments over a longer period of time.

Financial : In '92 making only $11per hr I often needed to take loans on my CCs to pay rent. Debt consolidation didn't help. I blocked taxes starting a cycle of debt on debt. I sold everything of value including most of my furniture.  In '01 found a better paying job with a university; it wasn?t enough to stay afloat. In '05 I filed Ch. 7 to get out from under the debt I built up during years of paying rent and utilities on cc's. This was a difficult decision as I don't like leaving any debt unpaid. I still feel guilty about having to have made such a decision.

In '06 my new position at work, increased my pay $7K; now basics were covered and I could deal with my taxes.  I always filed, but still owed and was in default.  With help of attorney I have a payoff agreement with feds ($324 mo taken out of wages for next 3 years) and am negotiating an arrangement with state to pay $3k balance ($100 mo currently). I have dental insurance but 60% coverage, had some 1x expenses this past year hence my $1000 bill.

I have cc debt, but it is not from frivolous items. This year moved into staff housing. I had 2 weeks to move or lose the less expensive apt. Because of the bankruptcy I had to pay a $2000 deposit and needed put it on a cc. I also paid movers and picked up some inexpensive furniture.

Over the last year I have done much to improve my finances. I cut my monthly expenses by moving and save $150. Living on campus means less gas and no parking permit saving me $100. I cut my own hair saving me $20. Splitting Costco trips with a friend saves me $75. To increase my income I mystery shop for $80 per month. I am starting a part time job working the front desk at a spa for $290 net per month. I also sell my artwork; $300 over the last year. I'm contributing 2% to my retirement fund with a match from my employer.

In the next 3 years I will have the taxes, car and all debt paid off.
