About Me:I am a 33 year old submarine officer (3 yrs officer, 13 total service) in the US Navy. We live on base and are renting out the home we own in Texas. We have 4 awesome children; a son from my previous marriage, a daughter from her's, and 2 sons together. She is a stay at home mom and does a great job that I am grateful for. The Navy has given us a lot of unique opportunities and I plan on spending another 8 to 10 years serving our country.
Purpose of loan:My being away on a submarine a lot of the time takes its toll on her, having to keep up with the kids, the house and the finances, too. This loan will make things easier for her. We have 4 credit card (CC) debts that will be paid off by this loan. Two cards are no longer used, one I have closed the account and the 4th is used infrequently.
My financial situation:I am working my way out of a large CC debt that I incurred while I was in college and my 1st son was born with no insurance . The medical bills left me $30,000 in the hole. I have paid off almost 1/2 of that debt. When my wife and I got married I inherited her debt and paid that off. Now I owe $15,068 to CC companies. This loan will pay off what I owe. In addition, I am paying back an overpayment to the Navy (DFAS). The overpay was one that I caught and reported to DFAS ($568.48/mo ends in August of this year). I have a personal loan taken right after graduating from college ($382/mo ends Oct?08). My CC payments total $800/mo (>minimum). My Prosper loan will be about $630/mo. A benefit for me (and you as lenders) of being in the military is that my pay is guaranteed. My commission does not expire until late 2009 and I will soon (in the next 6 months) recommit for 4 more years. In April of 2008 I will be promoted to Lieutenant (O-3E) and in May I will make 14 years in the Navy. This will mean a pay raise of nearly $1000/month total, making this loan even easier to pay off!  If you are not familiar with military pay, visit www.dfas.mil/militarypay/2006militarypaytables for more information. Helping me get this loan will get me out of the paycheck to paycheck rut. And because I work for the government, it is a chance for you to get some of your tax money back, too!
Additional Explanation:Please note (if you did not see them) that there are 2 deliquencies listed on my credit profile. One of these is in dispute (a payment credited to the wrong account). The other was a recent mistake by myself and will have been paid by the time this loan request closes.
