About Me: I work as a science technician at South Pole Station, Antarctica. I've been working in the United States Antarctic Program (USAP) for well over a decade, though I've been with my current employer for only about a year and a half. Purpose of loan: 1) I think it will be fun to have the first ------- loan to the South Pole, and probably the first to anywhere on the seventh continent. 2) Not that my credit score is bad, but every "why your CS isn't higher" advice that's ever come with my CR has included "lack of experience with installment loans", and, indeed, I have none. Until now. Full disclosure: I plan to repay $1500 of this loan right away. I would have listed for $1000, but the minimum ------- origination charge is $25, and I figured that my GL might as well get an extra $7.50 out of the deal (chew toy for Elwood?) With the remaining $1000, which I will pay back over time, I have several options: a) Continue to make a killing on -------, by loaning at 29% to HR borrowers, each of whom PROMISES to repay me! b) Go NUTS at the next South Pole Bingo night. No, I'm not kidding; bingo is a Very Serious Business down here. See photo #4 if you don't believe me. c) Um, give me a minute; I'm working on it....buy 83 cases of Mt. Dew at PoleMart?? My financial situation: I'm asking for a chance to prove myself and get my credit scores back up to where they should be. If you bid on my listing I promise that I will not let you down. Making my payments on time will be my top priority each month, I sincerely promise you that and as you can see from my financial details, I will have the money to do so. Wait, no, I'm sorry, that's not right. I've just seen it on SO many listings that I figured maybe it was required by the TOS or something.... My real situation is pretty simple, and it looks like this: Monthly net income: $4000+ Monthly expenses: $ 30 Housing: $ 0 (Room A1-109 in the "new" Elevated South Pole Station [Oops, is that too much information? Have I violated my privacy?] is provided by the USAP!) Insurance: $ 30 (for a 1990 Honda Accord, currently parked in [undisclosed city] WA state) Car: $ 0 (did I mention that the car is parked, and I'm nearly 10000 miles away?) Utilities: $ 0 (USAP provides) Phone, cable, internet: $ 0 (USAP provides, sort of, sometimes) Food: $ 0 (USAP provides) Clothing: $ 0 (USAP provides) Credit cards: $ 0 As you can see, I have over $4000 left over to be used not only for my Prosper Payment, but for savings and emergencies, and I can easily afford this loan. I promise that my payments to Prosper will be my top priority each month. In fact, I am going to have Prosper automatically withdraw my payments each month so that everyone, including myself, knows that my payment will be made on time, every time. I'm not about to make a mistake with this opportunity to start rebuilding my credit. Shoot, where'd that come from? What group am in, anyway? I've started the interest rate at the state max because I've read on the forums that I need to "seed" my loan by getting 20% or more funded in the first few days. I'm hopeful that a high starting rate will provide as much fertilizer for that seedling as has been dumped on that topic, and many others, by certain forum posters. Finally, I also read that I'll do better if I include a picture of myself. In photo #3, I'm the one on the big red parka. You can tell it's me because you can see both of my (well-mittened) hands! |
