Purpose of loan: Both my cars are paid for, but one of them, my 1994 Nissan Sentra, is about to roll over 200K miles. It's been a great car, but things are starting to fall apart. I don't buy from used car lots because I don't like getting riped-off. Since I grew up working in my dad's autobody shop, I know what to look for in a used car and will probably buy one at auction (hence the need for cash). My financial situation: I've worked for the local Sheriff's Office for three years now as a Crime Analyst, taking home roughly $44,000 a year. Prior to that, I worked for various intelligence agencies for just under 17 years. My wife and I also own an online business that generates a little more than $50,000 a year in sales (a little less than $20,000 profit after expenses and cost of goods). My position with the Sheriff's Office and U.S. Intelligence has required extensive background checks, psychological tests, polygraphs (lie detector tests) and other screening, and I have always been found to be reliable and of good character. Our monthly bills are minimal. I have about $700 I'm paying off on a computer from Dell ($20-$25 a month - though I usually pay more), and about $240 on a credit card ($15 a month - again, I normally pay more). I'll be using this loan to buy a used car for myself, after which I'll sell my Nissan for $800 to $1200 and buy another used car for my 16-year-old daughter (I've got about $1400 set aside in my PayPal account for that purpose, so I expect to be able to get her a $2000 to $2500 car). My monthly budget: Mortgage/rent: $1,100 Insurance: $44 Car expenses: $200 (gas) Utilities: $90 Phone, cable, internet: $125 Food, entertainment: $400 Clothing, household expenses $100 Credit cards and other loan payments: $40 Other expenses: $50 - mochas and such :-) --------------------------------------- Total monthly expenses: $2049 |
