Purpose of loan:
I am a graduate student working on a Ph.D. in mathematics. As such, my schedule over the summer is more free than during the school year, and I have a variety of projects planned. I want to have some cash available for summer projects (possibly income-generating) or last-minute travel, and believe in the Prosper.com model -- I could put the stuff on my credit card (which currently has no balance), but I would rather not; I would rather my debts be held by people, instead of corporations. My financial situation: As you can see, I have excellent credit; I don't miss payments on anything--rent, bills, etc. I have no debt (except student loans which are in forbearance, meaning I don't have to pay them back until I graduate). I will have payments auto-deducted from my high-interest savings account, so I won't even have to think about it. I keep careful track of my financial records and a detailed spending plan, and have a very stable income, so I'm sure that I'll be able to pay back this loan. My monthly budget*: Mortgage/rent: $415 Insurance: $150 Car expenses: $100 Utilities: $80 Phone, cable, internet: $50 Food, entertainment: $200 Clothing, household expenses $50 Credit cards and other loan payments: $0 Other expenses: $150 --------------------------------------- Total monthly expenses: $1195 *My wife works; this budget represents approximately half of our shared-expenses. |
