My name is Nancy. I?m a 45 year old and have been married to the same wonderful man for 26 years. I met my husband in 6th grade, who would have known?

I?ve been driving a school bus since 1982, but had to take some time off when my sons were born. I became a school bus driving instructor 4 years ago, which is a full time job 12 months a year. My husband is also a driver, but he drives semi-trucks. He?s been driving for almost 30 years. We both have excellent driving records and great jobs which we both love. I have also recently received my real estate license. This allows me to work from home as a loan officer. All three of our sons have graduated and moved into their own homes.

We had meticulous credit until four years ago. My husband suddenly became ill and was diagnosed with kidney cancer. He recovered nicely but we were uninsured at the time. With my husband unable to work for an extended period of time, we did our best to keep up with the medical bills as they came in but eventually were in over our heads. We ended up having to file bankruptcy to take care of the last medical bills we had no way of paying. I?ve double checked my credit report and the 5 items which are showing up as now delinquent were included in the bankruptcy. It was devastating to file bankruptcy. We had worked so hard our entire lives to maintain perfect credit, and then have it all destroyed in a matter of months.

We recently had the transmission go out on our diesel truck. The total cost of replacing the transmission is $3,000.

Both my husband and my income vary each month. I bring home a minimum of $1,800 to $ a maximum of $2,600; he brings home a minimum of $1,500 (during the rainy months) to a maximum of $3,000. Thus our pay varies between $3,300 and $5,600 per month.

Budget:
$950 Rent
$150 Insurance
$350 Vehicle Expenses
$250 Utilities, phone, internet
$500 Food & entertainment
$300 Clothing & household expenses
$500 Credit card & loan payments

$3,000 total monthly expenses
Even on our worst month, we would still have $300 left to pay on this loan. I have set it up for Prosper to automatically withdraw the loan payment directly from our checking account to ensure we don?t miss a payment.
